Meet our lead pastor
Tim Powell
Tim was born in Laurinburg, North Carolina. He later moved to Shallotte where he met his wife, Abby; both graduating from West Brunswick High School.
Tim went on to play baseball and graduate with an Associate's degree from Brunswick Community College. He then completed his Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.
Tim and Abby served the local church in Nashville, Tennessee for 5 years before moving to Conway, Arkansas. After 10 years in sales for companies like Coca-Cola and Campbell's Soup, Tim left the business world to pursue full-time ministry. He joined a church planting residency program with The Summit Church in Central Arkansas and is now the lead pastor of City Gates Church.

Why City Gates
The name City Gates Church has three layers. The first is a reference to towns and cities in Bible times where the walls provided strength, peace, and security. The City Gates were set up to give an entry point into the cities.
The second comes from the idea that we as the church should be the gates that welcome people into Christ's kingdom.
The third is to remind us of the Garden City that we will inhabit one day as God’s Holy Nation. In those days, the gates will never be closed!
